    Even though my ipad has 3G, can I not use it, and only use the WiFi?

    To use it, you must have a subscription plan. On the positive, you can try a month at a time. If you do not need it, you can cancel the plan.

    I don't want to use the 3G, so can I still use the WiFi connecting to my wireless router??

    yes.

    think of 3G and wifi as two different sources of Internet. if you turn off 3G, you can use wifi.
