Its really annoying trying to find stuff to download. You scroll through pages and pages of apps, then click on one to have a look, then go back to the previous apps page and it nearly always takes you right back to the starting apps page. Rubbish.

Anyone know of a better way to scroll thru apps in a given category?

I agree with you, I usually do my searches online for best rated apps then simply search the name in the app store afterward. A real hassle. The app store desperately needs filters such as sort by rating, price, etc rather than only categories (which I find aren't always accurate).

use your computer to look for apps.

Just keep an eye on sites such as Padgadget, Tuaw, Touch Arcade and Appspy for example. I never bother with the appstore unless its to check out something I've seen recommended.

What it is good for is updating apps and there it's a winner.
Just yesterday the icon was flagged with 7 updates. Just entered my password and got on with my life.

Even Apple I'm sure is aware of the appstore's problems and I expect a reorganisation soon

Agreed - and a place with that many apps and no subcategories is weak. Do your research someplace like
iPhone App Reviews by the Experts at Macworld | Macworld
and click the "get it" link and it links you right to the app page in the store.

Ok my turn guys I agree first of all iTunes needs better management I mean personally I love cooking apps yes I am 66 next week and I love to please my partner with the latest recipe. Finding cooking apps is an issue to say the least but I cope.
Moving on I would I would like to review some facts:
iTunes began in 2003
As of feb 2010 10 billion songs down loaded
Applications 215,000 and growing
2 billion down loads
iPad apps around 16,000 ( iPad only) and growing evey day
Apple controls .the digital market world wide by 75%

Now I can understand we all have problems with iTunes but think about it... I know Apple will move to make it easier but guys it takes time the growth is massive YES!!!
I suspect when the new Apple server farm in north Carolina which costs around $ 1 billion dollars and occupies 500,000 sq ft area opens some time late this year or early next year apple will have a whole new way of looking at iTunes. It makes sense as the growth is massive no company and I mean no company wants to make a band aid fix it needs a massive over haul to give you what you want.

So my advice is be patient the light is at the end of the tunnel but will be will be a long tunnel as i suspect January will be when we see a major change to iTunes.
