I've attached my very crude drawing of a symbol in the iPad music player. It turns black whenever I tap it. Can someone tell me what this causes the player to do whenever it's tapped? Thanks.

That looks like the shuffle button which allows your music to be played in a random order.

If you check out the Music chapter in the iPad User Guide it shows all the icons and their states.

Not really. Just a reminder that it is there, and worth looking at.

When you have a great forum like this it's only natural that people will often asking first. The same way you're likely to ask you friends and/or neighbors about things you really could have looked up yourself. Because that is our nature as social creatures.
