    Email Attachments

We host our own email with Microsoft Exchange. The default iPad email works fine with our system but is severely lacking in handling attachments. For instance unless I'm missing something, when sending a reply there is no way to add an attachment. If anyone knows a work around or other app please post.

The iPad works opposite from what you expect from a computer. Since it has no file system to go and find a file to attach, you have to be IN the app that contains the file. From there is where you initiate an e-mail.

To reply to an e-mail, you'll have to copy the original e-mail, then go to the app that contains the file you want to "attach," open the file, select to e-mail it and when the e-mail pop-up appears, paste in the e-mail information.

Yeah, it's a bit convoluted, but it's how it works given Apple's sand boxing of apps (for security measures). Hope this hels.

How do you "copy" an email to get this to work? I don't see a copy function when I am in an email I want to copy?

To copy an email, or part of it, first open it up. Then hold your finger on the section you want to copy until the magnifying glass appears, then let go. You can then use the dots on the blued out section to highlight the part you want to copy, or tap 'select all' if you want to copy the whole thing. Then tap the word 'copy' which turns blue. Now come out of the email app and go to wherever the attachment is you want to send. Select the email option, and when the email proforma appears hold your finger where you want the copied text to go, as before. Let go, and tap 'paste'. You can add other text if you wish. When you then send the email, it automatically has the attachment in it.

What I do is hit the Reply button. Then, when the pop-up appears, I press on the screen until I get the option to Select All, the I hit Copy.

That way, when I take it to another app so I can mail an attachment and paste it in, it looks like a regulate replied e-mail (and has all the prior headers and such). If you want to make it perfect, I put the same title in and put RE: in front of it...
