Theoretical iPad Game Power
Hi everyone. I am new to the forum, as I just pre-ordered the new iPad, my first one, and I am just trying to find out as much about it so I can fully utilize it seemingly out of the box.
I have been thinking about using the iPad for gaming because I am getting ready to go on a road trip, so gaming will be great for entertainment. That leads me to the question of what is the power of the iPad to play games. By this, compared to what dedicated gaming system is it close to? Basically, I started thinking about how it would be cool to use some sort of controller, similar to the 360 or playstation, to play games (I know about the iPhone app, but what about physical controls). Thinking of the controller lead me to what version of Madden (use this because of its history) could be played on the iPad from a purely computational and graphics power perspective. Like Madden on the Sega Genesis, Playstation, Xbox, etc. I've played Madden on the iPhone, but its just not close to the experience without a controller.
Just wondering everyone's thoughts.

Check out the onlive service which streams real pc games to your ipad and you can play them with their $50 ps3 lookalike controller. https://www.onlive.com for more info. As for games made for the ipad specifically, Infinity Blade series is pushing what the hardware can do. The upcoming infinity dungeons will take advantage of the new ipad's hardware. Dead Space and asphault 6 are other decent games with nice gfx. Slowly there are more quality games where substance overrides the visuals like swords & sworcery, waking mars, and euphloria. I use my main pc less for everyday tasks but still for the aaa game titles out there. I've had the first two versions of ipad and will be getting the 3rd and it will just take a few more years before there will be a big catalogue of games that you can't just jump in and play for 5 minutes at a time. Don't get me wrong, I rather enjoy those type of games but also the ones that i can really get into.
