I have no need for that, but thanks.
No prob. One never knows what kind of setup/needs people have, so I just threw out this product link that I found and saved a few weeks ago.
I haven't had the need for it yet either. But eventually I might get annoyed with how short my Apple AV cable set is and my iPad sits exposed on the fireplace while I output video to the tv. Or if I decide to use my Onkyo dock more with my iPhone/iPad, this would come in handy.
I wouldn't be able to solve those problems with just a USB extension cable.

I seem to remember Radio Shack has them too. Probably not the cheapest, but their cable quality is usually good. Different colors to as I remember. Reasonable return rights and available right away.

I should also add, in case you need one right away, I got a white USB M/F 5 footer at my local dollar store, and yes it is only a buck, im gonna look for it now, I never thought of just getting a USB extender to increase length of AC adaptor, I just bought some cheap ac adapters for ipad on ebay, only like 3 bucks each, but are longer than the ac adapter that came with ipad, but is strictly just ac adapter, cannot disconn. to be a usb cable like the one that comes with ipad..

Thanks for the idea about the dollar store but I already placed my order![]()
All those length issues are relevant only for the issue of data transmission (basically capacitance of the cable), and are irrelevant for the purposes of charging, which is DC. As long as the ipad isn't going to be drawing 5-10amps or more, and it isn't, there should be no problem with quite long lengths, 50feet even, depending on the gauge of the wires...
Sounds like you already ordered a USB extension (which btw, is what I use, and it works fine), but jest in case, I thought I'd give you (or anyone else) a link to MonoPrice: USB Cables
Monoprice should be anyone's go-to place for any cords/cables from computer, to tv, or anything else. Their quality is great, and their prices are hard to beat, and their selection is 2nd to none.
And btw, in case anybody thinks I'm spamming for them, I'm not, and actually have nothing to do with them. They're very well known in the A/V industry, and I was recommended to them a few years ago when I got my first HDTV
Monoprice is fantastic. I use them all the time for HDMI cables, stereo wire now, banana plugs, etc.
Their customer support is great, and they have a 6' iPad cable direct, for anyone who cares:
For only $1.06 each when QTY 50+ purchased - USB Sync Cable for Apple iPhone/ iPad/ iPod Touch, Classic, Mini, Nano - 6ft | iPhone/iPod Cables
$1.58![]()
I bought two 6' iPad cables from Monoprice, total cost $5.01 to the house.
These cables are only 5 watt but they still charge while the iPad is in use, so I guess they will work as long as I don't need a quick charge when battery level gets way down.
