Several Members have successfully used a VPN server in the UK with the iPlayer app. Have a look at their posts for details of how to set this up and their experiences.

I have taken the advise of a number and gone with purevpn. My status is active but it is not clear how I then assume a uk ip so that I can run BBC etc
