I want to edit or delete some of the contacts that are stored when typed in or replied to in mail ( as opposed to the Contacts Icon folder)... Where are the stored and how can I edit them?

I'm afraid I have some bad news...
Unlike the Mac, where this 'recently used address' list can be editted, on the iPad it can't. It annoy almost everyone but there's no way of deleting entries from that list. The only - partial - good news is that this list is of limited length and entries eventually 'drop off' the end.

If you, or anyone else, ever do figure out a way to edit or delete these "auto" addresses ... you will be the HERO of this forum for ever and ever and ever!

If you avoid selecting it, it should disappear, eventually. The cache doesn't seem to be bottomless, though whether it is a mater of time or limited storage space I don't know.
More importantly, the addresses you select more often get moved to the top of the list, where they are more easily found.
