I have both. Had kindle first then got iPad. I love both. My iPad is great for reading in the house or car. When I went to the beach today, I took my kindle. I don't have to worry about glare with the kindle. And the iPad is great for reading at nit when hubby is trying to sleep or watch tv. :-)

I'm with NYhorsewoman and would like a temporary anti-glare screen to place over my iPad to reduce glare while reading outdoors, which I do nearly every day. I don't want a permanent solution because I like to use my 'i' devices 'naked' and without plastic covering the screen - but there is a glare problem in reading outdoors or under bright lights with the iPad. My wife has a nook and while I like the e-ink, it's really difficult to use for library books, which I download all the time to my iPad.
Yeah, it seems to me that a detachable sun shade would be ideal. Anyone want to fund a startup?![]()
My daughter has both, she is an editor and travels extensively. Last time I checked she had about 600 books on her iPad.... and another 200 on the Kindle.
I asked her why she carries both, and she said she uses the Kindle when she is some place that she would be afraid to take her iPad, like around the beach or the pool. She says she is not worried about someone taking her Kindle, but she worries that someone will see her iPad and steal it while she is not looking!
She does edit books on her iPad and no longer carries her laptop on most trips - though she does still take it on some trips.
She is a walking Apple ad: iPhone 4, iPod Nano, iPad 2 and Macbook Air...

I have the second gen Kindle. I got the case from Amazon, around $30 as I recall. You can also use a ziplock freezer bag.Originally Posted by zacky218
