My girlfriends kid asked me "can I use your iPad when it get here." I told him yes, but only if I'm watching.
And if I look away to sneeze or blink occasionally, he should should stop until I'm again fully watching with vulture-like intensity.

The same way to keep them from taking a butter knife and poking their sisters eye out...... Be a parent
I liked the "little crosses" and home button idea the best......

I have all my granddaughter's apps on one page, I hand it to her open to that page, and if she were to delete, she will go without and knows it! She also can only use it while I am sitting nearby.
Make them put on a pair of surgical gloves before younhand them the iPad
The iPad must go on a 7-8 foot-high cabinet top.
Give them a Touch and explain that its a training model.
What annoys me more than one of my kids deleting (or almost deleting an app) is that they constantly push the home button in the middle of playing a game. Then they are lost amongst all the icons to get back to what they were doing. They hand it back to me, I open the app again, get back to where they were in the game, hand it back, they play for a couple of minutes, click the home button, and the cycle repeats itself until I get too frustrated to deal with it.
A way to disable the home button would be nice.
It happened to me to but I talked to Apple and you can re-download them for free. Just go to them download and first it will have the charge and look like u will be charged but just click install and it will tell u you already downloaded it and there will be no charge. I have "HAD" to do this numerous times.
