I feel hesitant to post this, but I dropped my ipad2 of 3 months purchased through my com pay, but I felt responsible. It was cracked on twoopposite corners as expected. I had a Dr. Willing to pay for the repairs, but then one morningncoming to work,i left it on top of my car, drove away, and heard two loud knocks but didn't realize it was my iPad for an hour or so. I rushed home andnfound it in the middle of the road, completely damaged. It looked pretty actually with the amount of shattered glass, like a diamond front. I called the 800 nu,ber and he said even if I was a super pissed off customer and was transferred to management, they could not do anything for free, perhaps something, but for a cost. I asked them to make me man appointment at the closet apple store, which they did. I asked them NOT to be on specific in what the problem was. Hen I arrived I explained I hadit for just over three months and it fell off the top of the truck. I went on to explain my position, which is IT manager for a tier in a research department and do a lot of buying andnthey could benefit ifi route POs through them. Kim said, regardless of the good talk, she would replace it because itnwas the right thing to do. The one they brought out ofmthe back was DOA and said it would ben2-3 days for a new one to arrive. I got a call it was in, q different employee helped and the place was packed with people. I am now telling the story. Don't call the 800#, just make an appointment, give a story, and see what happens. I am sure they don't do this for everyone, but they did give mema one time replacement for free which is awesome. Did I mention I whipped out my MacBook pro, ipad1, ipad2, and told them I was waiting for the iPhone 5 to be released, and showed them my shattered blackberry storm 2. I hated it, and that is true. Anyway, it's possible, give it a try, and it is completely up to the store. Just make them feelmlike they are making the right decision. Good luck!
