I'm happily using my iPad at home and while traveling. I like to play music from my iPod collection while googling, etc. in bed or on a couch. I had fun creating a slide show from my saved images in Photo, using the Keynote app. Keynote and Pages have great tutorials that make it easy to get started.
(They don't have the full functions of PowerPoint and Word, though.)

For touch sensitivity (reply #101) just beware of putting three fingers on the iPad at once, whIch throws you into zoom mode. My husband didn't realize that had happened while he was playing a game. It's really, really hard to get to the restart slider when zoomed out!

In my previous reply about touch sensitivity and zoom, I should have said two or four-finger motions cause zooming, not three fingers.

I will be using my future iPad for travelling, connecting to my work server, browsing, music, apps, pictures and movies. I'm not going to download too much as I only got a 16 GB just like my iPhone. Everything else will be on my Macbook. I brought my Macbook to Asia not too long ago and I needed something that's smaller and easy to carry. The iPad will be the perfect road warrior gadget for me.

I'm retired so I won't need the iWork aspect. Will be surfing, playing games, and doing most of my reading on it. It'll save on the book clutter around this house! Have movies on my iTouch but husband prefers a bigger screen so I'll put some movies on it for him when we travel. I'm much more a visual person than an auditory one, so I've found that music on my iTouch doesn't get played very much so I probably won't put any on the iPad.

My plan is to replace my smart phone with the iPad. I'll just carry a tiny basic phone for actually talking to people, and use the ipad for everything data related. Its neat that my phone can do email, web surfing, etc, but I find that I never actually do any of that on my phone because the screen is just too small to be practical.

I've been a long-time fan of the old slate style Tablet PCs. I used to carry a Compaq TC1000 around in slate mode as my PDA, but its just too slow now. I do wish the iPad had a pen option for better drawing, handwriting, adding doodles and diagrams to notes, etc, but its not a deal-breaker. The extra portability and price make up for what it lacks.
