I just have a miscellanous question. Is it advisable avoiding turning the volume all the way up to keep the built-in speakers from getting blasted? Or is it alright? I'm imagining certain types of music would damage them if played continuously.

The internal speakers on the iPad are not the greatest to begin with, but I don't think there is any risk of damaging them. You're best bet would be to get a good set of amplified speakers like those made for computers.
Yes, there no damage by doing that but the best advice I think is you need to buy an ipad speaker. You will be satisfied even with just a cheap speaker.
I want the Jambox!
Jawbone**|**Bluetooth Headsets, Wireless Speakers, Apps & More
I have the Jambox.
It's a great little speaker.
Clear with good bass.
A little on the expensive side but you get what you pay for.
It has it's own little protective case too and lot of connectors.
It's well built too.
It fits very well in the mini bag I carry my iPad in.
You can also use it for conference calls or in the car too.
Recommended.
Tom.
