How much will iPad 1's price drop?

Hi iPad people! I'm waiting to buy a iPad 1 once the iPad 2 comes out and I just wanted to see how much you guys think the price will drop.

My hope is somewhere around $200.

    (First post btw!)

Extremely unlikely. iPhone prices drop because Apple gets good profits from the contract kickback, plus the phones are subsidized by AT&T. That model doesn't fit the iPad.

Existing iPod Touch prices drop very little when a new model comes out. IMHO, the Touch model is closer to what will happen to the first gen iPad. At the most, I could see a $100 drop but I wouldn't be surprised to see less. Apple could even keep the old model at the current price and charge more for the iPad 2.

I agree with Bob, you may see a 50 to 100 dollar drop or none at all. Even used versions will keep there value with a small drop when everyone who buys the new iPad try's selling there old one....

    You are expecting $200?

MAYBE if you find someone desperate for a quick sale on eBay you might be able to get one for $300, but I don't think a $200 drop is realistic at all.

If we are talking about brand new. I don't think we'll see much of a price drop at all. Some stores might do sales to cut their existing stock, but that won't be standard.

I bought a refurb 64gig wifi for $599 and I am thrilled with it.
This is my 3rd apple refurb and all 3 have been stellar.
Refurbs are the best apple value IMHO.

Welcome to our forums. Sorry NO nothing like $200 maybe $50! Because most likely stocks will be depleted prior to shipping of new ipad Apple ipads are built to order unlike hp and acer etc. Apples inventory control is one of the best in the industry as they do not hold large stocks in any country. The only exception would be non Apple stores like Best Buy but in saying that they too would be careful what to order. The net cost to dealers is approx. 5% of retail same as Mac books and iMacs and iPods so they do not have much to work with Apple may offer price protection on any excess stock after the new model is released but usually that is only 10%
    hope that helps

With luck, they may drop down to $800

for the 64 gig 3G/wifi. But don't hold your breath.
