Uhm..., what just happened???
Hey folks,
I was just on the school site and download an dos file to my iPad. It didn't open in Numbers like I expected, it saved to "Documents", which to and old windows guys like me seems to be a directory someplace.
HELP! How do I access this file?!? Help! Please?!?!?
Thanks!

I don't understand. Do you mean a spreadsheet?
Do you just have Numbers or the whole iWork thing? What did you do to download the file?

Sorry. I was downloading an excel file. I assumed it would open in Numbers (I have all three iWorks apps). Instead, it seemed to save to the iPad "hard drive" somewhere. Weird, huh?

What app did you use to download the file. As far as I know, Safari will let you view excel files, but it will not actually download them to a folder.
So, whatever app you used to download with, that's where it is. Some apps, like GoodReader will let you take files you've downloaded and open them in Numbers, or other compatible apps. But you have to select them in that app first, and choose Open with from the little square icon with a arrow curving through it.

I either did it in Safari or Atomic.

Atomic then. Safari won't let you download.
I had Atomic Light for a while, but deleted it. Now that I know that it will do downloads (checked the features) I purchased the full version. What the heck, it's only a dollar.
To get your downloaded file from Atomic into Numbers:
Open Atomic. Tap on the in-tray icon. It's the square bracket on its side with an arrow pointing down; top right corner. You see a list of pending and complete downloads. Tap the arrow to the right of your downloaded file and select Open in external app. Numbers should be among the apps listed.
Worked fine in my test.

Dude, you rock. I'll check it out, and thanks!
