Don't know but it is very easily dumped.

The message you have entered is too short. Please lengthen your message to at least 3 characters.

True.but I'd just as soon not have to drill down in settings if I don't have too.

Not really much to drill down in the Safari app. No privacy settings, no way to disable accepting cookies, no way to turn off history. You will need an aftermarket browser for these functions, and there are several good ones that have these features, tabs, etc. ICab Mobile, and Atomic Web Browser are 2.

Why turn off history you just can't stop the thing, if your successful you may be able to change it. Martin Luther King did.

Hello Heavykrush - welcome to the forum!

Since the earlier posts in this thread date to January of this year, the new iOS 5 has been released w/ changes made to the Safari app. Don't believe there is an option w/i the app (of course, history can be easily deleted there). Also (if you are running the latest iOS?), go into 'Settings' and open Safari - History, Cookies, etc. can be deleted (don't see a specific option to 'turn off' the history).

Now there is a choice called 'Private Browsing' which I have not turned on, so cannot really comment, but there is some interesting discussion about this feature on the Apple Support HERE - hopefully, others who have used 'private browsing' will respond. Of course, there are other browsers that can be used on the iPad, so check out the App Store for their offerings. Good luck and please post your experience here - may help others.

I tried private browsing on Safari, but found that it would prevent auto-fill in cases such as auto-logon to forums like IPF (so you have to logon in each time), and would block some video. For instance, there's a video link in the forum to a tribute to Steve Jobs at a German Apple store; on private browsing, I could hear sound, but see no video on that link. PB had that effect in Safari, as well as Atomic. I didn't try my other browsers.

I don't need PB, but I was checking out features. If I wanted PB, I'd set it in an individual app, like Atomic, rather in iPad settings, because it wouldn't limit viewing functions on all browsers, just the app.
