No, it is not possible, but you can use skype for example.

yeah thats what i mean mate,so skype does work?does it work on 3g,or just wi fi?and is it easy to set up? cheers

yes it's possible, download Textie for SMS and a VOIP app
like "Whistle" or "Talkatone" for making calls.
they will probably work better using WiFi but will work
on 3G too.iPad2 32GB w/3G
iPhone 4 32GB
