You might also just check on a new battery for your existing PC. Much cheaper than a new PC and use the rest of your budget towards the iPad.

I also have a regular hp laptop, its battery life is really too short. If I were you, I would wait until christmas and get the ipad.

thanks for the help guys. So in the end I am keeping my Iphone and laptop and getting myself a nice kick ass Ipad as a 30th bday gift and xmas gift for me :-)
