I have recently purchased a Gigastone Smartbox to stream video's to my IPad 3 but find it will only support MP4, MOV & M4V. As most of my video's are AVI's, I have to open up a browser on the IPad to connect to the Smartbox and then save the video to say File Explorer which will play pretty much anything. As this is painful I was hoping someone new of an app that supported the Smartbox and would play AVI's. Thanks

I would expect you can use any third party app that handles whatever streaming protocol the Smartbox uses, as long as you have connected to its wifi hotspot first. Goodplayer is easy to connect to DLNA devices, so I'd try that.

Just had a look at Goodplayer in the App Store and it looks as though it has some bad reviews

Apart from no DTS audio codecs, it works admirably for me. There are other video player apps, but you'd have to sort through the functionality regarding various access protocols for network drives and shares.

Downloaded the Goodplayer App. Thanks it worked a treat. Just set the gigastone.smartbox as homepage in browser within app and it will play all files that I have tried. Thanks again.
