    Clarification

You are not saying you survived 185 waves in endless survival are you?

I've been at it for weeks. My best is 26 waves without cob cannons.

Just finished first game with build that included two cob cannons on lily pads with nothing else except gatling pea shooters shot through fire and made it to 25 waves. Have to rethink rest of board as Gatling pea shooters and fire isn't enough. Think I must mix in two more cob cannons by wave twenty then go with cob cannons and two slots of doom shrooms the rest of the way out.

One good thing to always do though is plant two cattails to handle balloon zombies as cactus guns are useless for long term builds and blovers are a complete waste of precious sun points.

I despise the bungee zombies the most. Thieving turds have been known to attack in groups of six or more at one time. If the build is good though they can only get your sunflowers in the back row which are easily replenished.

Damn....I know entirely too much about zombies and plants. Time for a walk.

I reached level 40 once. The bungie zombies always end up doing me in too...anyone have suggestions on getting past level 40?
I usually replace my cattails early with cob cannons, and keep the windmill on hand. I load up a min. Of 4 double flowers, four canons in the water, in the back two rows, in front of them the purple puffer shrooms. On the outer rows I load with the catapults, of course covered with pumpkins. Lastly, I keep the first three rows on the right, top and bottom, lined with the spikes, big and small. Wondering if I should somehow replace the spikes with something else? I've tried the doom shroom, it just takes so long to recover. And of course I keep on hand the cherry bombs.

My wife was hooked on PvZ on her iPhone a while back and I realy didn't make anything of it. We went to the Apple store yesterday and I started playing PvZ on one of the demo iPads. I can see now how she got hooked on it. When we got home, the first thing I did was download it. This game might just replace Bloons as my game addiction.

I tried this game a long time ago and I must have missed the point because I got bored rather quickly. Maybe I'll give it a try again.

Well thanks to all for the pointers. I beat endless survival and made it through 44 waves of insanity before dying.

The build I used consisted of two cob cannons, a dozen frozen melon catapults, six fume shrooms and eight gloom shrooms, a couple cattails, spike rocks and about seven thousand sun points at the peak of the build which was around wave 23 or so. From there it was just a matter of holding on through forty waves, replanting where able and maintaining pumpkins on the gloom shrooms and sun producing plants. Two gloom shrooms in row two, one on each side of the pool were key to seriously slowing damage caused by digger zombies. I double up on jalepenos when bungee zombies are shown to be part of the next wave so to minimize their ability to steal plants. Not full proof but helpful. You just need an open lawn square which I allow in rows where I normally keep spike rocks.

I didn't think it possible on the iPad but you guys showed and taught me otherwise. I don't mean to be jaded but now I am in disbelief people hang on through hundreds of waves. I can imagine doing it on a pc because an extra plant slot can be earned that is not available in the iPad version.

Time to study longer term builds and shoot for one hundred waves. I got the alive and planting achievement but no trophy on the endless survival quick play game icon like all the other quick play challenges. Presuming this to be normal.
Background apps are hiding for good reason. Seek them out, close them. The world will be a better place.
