You could enable the gestures [that first showed up in the beta of iOS 4.3).

And, you can do this on a stock (e.g. non jail broken) ipad. Take a look at this thread to see how people have changed their iPads:

If you're jail broken, there are other methods, but this'll start you off.

'Settings', 'General', 'Keyboard', 'International Keyboard' if you want to delete one of them. If you want to switch back and forth between them then there's a button with a 'world' icon on it on the bottom row of the on-screen keyboard next to the space bar that allows you to swap backwards and forwards.
