    Some newbie questions...

    Hi all,

Sorry for the upcoming dumb questions :-)

I have never been an apple user so not accustomed to apple's ways.

Does the iPad 2 have a foldering system? Ie: Can I have a 'my documents' folder and have all my photos/excel sheets/etc stored and foldered?

    Thanks!

The answer is 'no' and 'yes'. The basic 'out of the box' iPad doesn't have a file system like a regular PC or Mac. Each program (app) stores its own files 'locally' and they are accessible only to that app.

Having said that, there is a program that most all iPad users have called GoodReader. It's the 'Swiss Army Knife' for the iPad and it can store files all together and in folders - or however you want them - and can transfer files to and from your PC using either WiFi or USB. From within GoodReader you can open those files in any app that supports that type of file. Having said that, though, when a compatible app does open that file it makes a local copy that it works on, so the original copy in GoodReader is left untouched. If you want to store the modified file in GoodReader you have to transfer it back there by some means.

GoodReader is very reasonably priced, gets universally good reviews - check it out in the App Store - and is frequently updated. It does a whole load of other things to...PDF reading and annotation, mp3 player etc etc

Highly recommended by everyone - I've never read a critical review.
