How do I setup the Ipad to access a local server's website?

1. For the server, the website is setup in IIS with the host header "develop.demo.com"

2. For PC and laptop in office, we add value in the hosts file:

192.168.2.6 develop.demo.com

3. How can I access develop.demo.com using Ipad when it is connected to the LAN without changing iPad hosts file?

Um, have you tried going to

192.168.2.6

in Safari?

Works for me for my PlayOn server and other things on my internal network.

First of all, are you using wifi or 3G on the ipad?

That they are using WiFi since they are on their LAN.

I try not to assume. You would be surprised...

With the limited information given, and the fact they are using HOSTS files to do the name resolution, they do not have a DNS server set up to resolve the domain name for "develop.demo.com". If that is the case, and there is no DNS server on the LAN, you will NOT be able to do what you want - resolve an IP to a Name - in any app in the iPad.

No DNS server to resolve IP=>Name, no using names on the iPad.
