I was wondering that myself, but guess you could cut off some of the would that curves up and still have support for the ipad.

I thought it was a rack for showing plates off, mum had one just like it on her dresser, identical to it. but if it works.

Doesn't touch the screen and holds the pad in either orientation. Best of all they work with the apple case on. Mine stands beside my main monitor and acts as an overflow or a pdf/reference screen when needed.

And yes it is a plate stand but with the high back it's easy to tap on without knocking the stand over

I thought thats what it looked like, but what the hell if it works for you and your happy with it then it does the job. And its not going to have a daft price tag on it to.
