The best writing apps are pages and the app called writing! I'm not completely sure if they have a built in dictionary, but I think they might have spell check, also with further updates I am sure they will add a dictionary at some point![]()

With iOS 5, Apple included a universal dictionary that any developer can access. I only have three apps that might be considered for writers; Pages, Daedalus, and Storyist. The dictionary works in all of them. It's a fairly good dictionary, but there are no thesaurus entries.
On the other hand I have WordBook XL. It's not that hard to switch back and forth between apps, or copy paste a word from one to the other. There are probably better dictionary apps, but I rather like this one; and it does have a thesaurus along with a few other extras.
Developers mostly use Apple's dictionary, if you don't like it - wait for Office for iPad.
Your very welcomemaybe you could help with some of the questions I have posted??
