There is no direct way, but you could for example write the book in Pages, export it as PDF, email it to yourself and then from Mail open it in iBooks.
Just realized, that this is probably not what you are looking for, as a PDF has substantial differences to an ebook. So you would have to convert the PDF first to an ebook, for example with Stanze on your desktop and then reimport the ebook into iBooks.

That is correct. PDF files will open in iBooks, but they don't offer the same features as ebooks. Most importantly do PDF files have no free text flow, i.e. the text will not adjust to the screen and you cannot change the font size, etc..Originally Posted by Nickso
Nothing direct that I have heard of.
If you have a Mac, you could write something in Pages on the iPad, export it to the newest version of Pages for the Mac, which has an ePub export feature.
I don't know how well this works. I haven't gotten around to updating my OS X version of Pages to play with the new features.
Thanks. Another idea to look into. I knew I could use it to convert, but had not cosidered using as part of the creation prosses.Originally Posted by MyFavoriteMartin
