Before I bought my ipad I had a laptop and used a program called Microsoft Paint.
It was really useful for blocking in squares etc with colour and I need to do this now as I photograph vintage cars and need to block out the number plates.
Does anyone know of an app of this name or one that will do a similar job.
Hopefully free.

There is a free app (that's very popular here at this forum! ) called Skitch. It has a pixelizer tool that you can select that will blur any area you choose.

While there are a lot of apps that will probably do what you need - maybe this one will work for you?

Looks like you've helped me out again.
You suggested I use an app for another purpose last week. I think it was PhosEXIF for checking sizes of pics. And it's just what I needed.
Now I've had a look at Skitch and again, it does exactly what I want.
