Depends what age you are targeting, but word pyramid improves your vocabulary

Check out Splingo's Language Universe - a new app produced by two Speech & Language Therapists/Pathologists targeting listening and language skills. Completely customisable to suit children of different ages/levels.

I'll add my usual shout out for khanacademy.org. You can access the site via a browser or though dedicated iPad apps. The site has several thousand mini-lectures/exercises in math, science, social sciences, and history for levels from pre-school through graduate school. If you don't know about the Khan Academy, you should.
