Just a heads up: Despite the "Not Charging" shown in the upper right corner when you plug the iPad into a PC, it apparently is actually charging.
I've enjoyed a similar experience as described in the link. It seems to charge just fine, especially when the screen is off, despite the 'not charging' warning.

For $5, I figure it's cheap enough to test out, and I can always find another use for it if needed.
One of my colleagues asked about this at an Apple store and the "genius" on duty showed him a 16 port USB hub that they use to charge iPods, iPhones and iPads. He said it looked like the same technology that had just been released in a device from Datamation Systems. I saw a press release about it recently. I think it is called the PowerPad 16.
