Once the iPad is in the case it does a decent job of holding it. I'd say 90% of both of the long sides are holding it in with at the lip of the case. The other 10% is the opening for the volume and mute/orientation lock switch.

I would be wary of holding it just by the cover side and swinging it back and forth, but that's just me being overly cautious. It would probably hold just fine!

I have pre-ordered the case from Amazon, but it will be a week or two before it comes I think.

Also, as you suggested I have ordered a full bodyguardz kit from the US just incase the case rubs. It will also mean I can use it out of the case when at home and not worry when I put it down on the table. :)

I started off mine w/ a skin guard for my ipad2. I have done that as well with my ip4 when i first got it.

They look very nice, but I would be worried about the sides being exposed. I think most of my worry is about resale when the time comes to change..... But I must stop and enjoy my lovely new gadget!!! :)

I got the Targus 360 and I like how you can go from landscape to portrait with ease. In addition, they have 2 different angles that it can rest on. The down side is that the smart cover I bought is now in a bag just in case I want to take it out of the Targus 360.

I also got the Skinomi screen protector and carbon back. I love the back carbon fiber look, but I freeekin got one small speck of lint caught on the inside of the screen protector. It is driving me nuts and I am seconds from ordering a new one, but I hear that this is almost always going to happen when putting on a screen protector. The smart cover will work with just the Skinomi on it. (Skinomi's customer service sucks - FYI)

Do the corner fixings make any marks on the screen protector and does the extra thickness of the carbon back make it a tighter fit? I have peered a full bodyguardz kit for mine and I hop they all work together ok.
