Won't using the cable defeat the purpose at all as it will shorten the battery time of your laptop instead, unless your iPad has no power left and your notebook still has full power.

I would rather get the best of both worlds by having a fully charge notebook and a iPad or tablet by just using my portable YB 642. I cannot guarantee that my notebook is always full powered. The powerplug for the notebook isnt exactly light too.

Do you need a big one or a smaller one? The big one can charge an iPhone for a few times to full charge.

I went back to my hometown, by taking the train for almost 40 hours. This YN-642 do help me a lot.It helped me to read E-book and playing games for almost 2 whole days.

I use a 5200ma unit from PowerLink that works brilliantly. I can charge my iPad, iPhone and noise canceling headphones from flat to full no problem.

Easily gets me around the world, flying from Malaysia to New York regularly.

Just got car charger from Dollar store for $2. Planning to use it for my iPad 2.

What if you dun have a car and indoors or outdoors for hours?

As i said, a 5200ma battery will charge the iPhone and the iPad from flat. Charge this and take it with you for when you run your device flat.
