Long Term use experiance with protective cases? Your Views?
I' been a long time Marware C.E.O. user and now that I'm getting a new Ipad I'm thinking about changing my case preference to a more protective case . I've been looking at Seidio Active, Gumdrop, Otterbox or Griffin Survivor. Which one has proven itself long term? My concerns are for:
1. Bulk, does it make the ipad much more heavy, I do a lot of one handed reading
2. Screen protector is the screen less responsive?
3. Snap-on on/off screen covers, in long term use is it a hassle to use, get lost or end up not using?
4. Rubber silicone - does it get loose and does it pick up dirt and lint?
5. Do you miss the smart on/off feature?
I guess the bottom line is do you still use them or have you moved on to a thinner case?

I've been using previously the smart case... With the 3rd generation of iPad coming, since Apple is not proposing any new smart cover to go with, I've been looking at what brands would propose as new solution... buts o far did not impress me at all. BUT got the chance last week to get a sample from the new case OZAKI is launching on the market. Quite similar to smart case but a lot more options as positioning... offer both landscape and portrait mode. So you got a versatile protective smart case with the extra of design, personality and add-ons (stylus included).
=> check their website ozakiverse.com
I received the iCoat Slim-Y+ samples. Colors and patterns look quite attractive...
They also propose 2 other products but different options: leather skins, color charts and extra (Stylus).
Overall product is nice, colors are bright and the leather covers attractive.
Couldn't make my mind as regards which one I should get at first...
Slim size vs. iPad weight - Here’s one reason you do not want to choose the wrong case for your third-generation Apple iPad: no matter how the new iPad blows everything with its latest features and technologies, it has surprisingly gained weight! And so you just want to find the best solution to avoid adding extra-weight to your iPad while you are on the move.
Portrait/landscape mode - I definitely can’t imagine how much time I have spent to play with case since I have it on my desk! Perhaps needed something to make my hands busy while thinking!
Apart from allowing you to quickly create a handy stand like any smart cover does, it exceeds the limit and gives the freedom to stand your iPad either in a landscape or portrait mode, and that in just one simple motion, one simple flip.
-> Portrait mode for any presentation, documents, pictures viewing, …
-> Smart cover mode
-> Landscape mode: four different angles – four different ways to display your iPad
Stable platform. If you are a fast writer, heavy touching game player,the iPad doesn't move an inch even I did try the heavy typing! Their new case provides you the freedom to display, view, work on your content – just to name a few things - easily, effortlessly and i should say with some comfort !
Add-ons: detachable stylus holder, slid-in/slid-out extra stylus
Given how often I used pen for presentations, reports prior to the arrival of iPad into my life, it was almost impossible to imagine ever needing a stylus for my iPad. Meanwhile it’s also a way to give my fingers a rest!
As business person, I’m always on the move, and so what I was missing in any smart case available on the market was one which would include a stylus but having thought it has to be placed with strategy, in order not to take too much place, or to be annoying as apart from the case and occasionally embellishing the case.
Well here you got a simple concept of slid-in/slid-out stylus in the back, with the option of interchangeable add-ons, depending on your mood, use and need. Simple as it looks but makes a big difference to me. Got my tools with me anywhere anytime!
Design/personality: 8 different patterned leather covers for their product called Slim-Y+. As Apple fan, I want some difference, unique design, i don't want to sit there and see the same case next to me!
It comes in eight unique patterned leather cover, each coating delivering a rich feel, unique edge with durable protection. The inner cover is also patterned making the display look like a beautiful colorful landscape! Each cover has its own personality, tuning a light smooth color with a unique pattern. Kinda piece of Art!
Overall is well thought and conceived. so far so good.
I used OtterBox defender... as for the durability of Slim-Y compared to OtterBox, I would not further comment... i guess their targets are very different, one claim long term use, the other one claim concept of multi-angle and personality. so if you want something durable to time, heavy use, regular travels, etc. you may consider another product. Slim-Y is more an response to needs of having handy stand with option of landscape & portrait modes, with a touch of personality/denotation.
Hope that helps!

Sounds great however the web site does not provide very many views of the case nor does YouTube in English.
I like the stylus holder however I can not determine if this case is more protective than sticking with the Marware product which I use on my ipda2.
My goal in this post was to get impression of long term (six months +) use of the Otterbox and survivor style cases. Now if the Ozaki case does provide extended drop protection in its design I would be very interested. My perfect case would be a folio style case which can protect my iPad HD (heavy dude) from a six foot drop.

Like many people, I enjoy ipad. Writing here gives me a great excuse to share tips there. And if something is really useful then I will be happy. I'm also on twitter, and facebook.

hoping for this to come out for the 3rd Gen iPad
I'd like this but I do hope they fill up that one corner on the cover. If I want to use the camera, I'll take off the cover.
