Okay I have bitten the bullet and sent off for the Ipad 2 despite having a laptop, netbook & an iphone 3GS.

So what I am wondering is what is the must have accessory or accessories ? Smart cover maybe, what would you advise I get.

Smart Cover? YES!

Case? Highly reconmmended...I went the cheap route at first waiting to see what other products came out. I Still have, and love, my cheap initial purchase...a zippered travel sleeve made by STN purchased at Staples for less than $20! Take your time selecting your "final" case...go cheap at first then look around.

Camera Connection Kit? YES!

Keynote (App, $9.95)? YES! ...you'll wonder how you ever lived without it

Pages (App, $9.95)? YES!

Apple Bluetooth Wireless Keyboard...if you plan to do a lot of writing. I didn't plan on it at first but seem to be doing more and more since I got "Pages" and my keyboard. If you are going to get a keyboard I highly recommend the Apple version. Sure there are others...some folding...some built within an iPad case...etc...but none as well built, light weight and perfect size as the Apple. Personal opinion, of course!

How can you advise on must-haves befor you even assertane what is usage and iPad habits are or will be?

So, to OP, what are your iPad habits or wants and needs? We can then better advise on must-haves

Apple Bluetooth Keyboard is sweet. A stylus too. These two add-ons turn your iPad into a laptop (or close to it).

Perhaps the most used accessory I utilize with my iPad 2 is a small microfiber cloth to keep the screen clean.

I bought an extra charger w/ cable and I picked up a cheap 6.5 ft charging/transfer cable off of the big auction site ... $3 from China (8 days shipping).

I got my self a "moshi" folio case for travelling and a cheap silicon case that i use when i"m at home reading that i got for 5usd..

I'm not sure if a screen guard is needed..

And yes for the camera connection kit!

I have a smart cover to but rTher not use it, coz it made scratches on the side where the magnets meet..

You need a cover/case/pouch. I recommend folio case, it's great. Of course smart cover is also a great choice, I got one at 34 bucks from Dragonext.
Screen protector is also necessary, because screen is wherer you touch the most.
Car charger is needed if you want to play your ipad on the go.
Bluetooth keyboard is also a necessity.
