Looking for a good messenger bag

I had an upcoming trip to San Francisco at the time, which is why I waited to get there so that I could check out the fabrics and colours in person. I was also there for just a few days, and they were able to get my design sewn up and ready to collect before I left. From a cost-saving point of view, you should only buy from Timbuk2's website if you're looking to customize, or for a specific design not available elsewhere.

Not everyone has to agree with your point of views, but at some point they need to accept Them!
They're pricey, but check out the bags at Saddle Back Leather. I have a briefcase and love it. Great warranty (100 years) and really a quality bag.
I remember looking through the Maxpedition catalog for a slingpack (looking for a camping/hiking bag, which I ended up getting the Gearslinger Monsoon), and I can absolutely vouch for the quality and durability of the Maxpedition line.

You can get the item direct from Maxpedition at full retail cost, but you can also get it for 10-15% off (discount varies depending on colours) via Amazon and their resellers -- Amazon.com: Maxpedition Larkspur Gearslinger: Sports & Outdoors

Yes, I found a STP deal on a fabric that Timbuk2 was phasing out. They'd run out of the size bag I wanted, I searched and found it on STP, for a lot less than I'd expected to pay.

The quest continues. I've looked at the Rickshaw bags, very nice, very expensive.
Just doesn't seem to be anything out there that is what I figure perfect. I don't need a bag measuring much more than 16x12x5. Looking at the Crumpler Hee Goer, just don't like the price.
Last trip the contents of my bag included: iPad, small med bag, snack bag with oranges, chips, chesse and crackers, bottle of water, and actully had my fleece vest folded inside.
We try not to carry extra bags aboard the plane, my wife carries her purse and I have the bag with the above.
Lots of bags are out there, but someone on the forum has found their perfect bag, just hasn't shared the secret yet!!!!
Your idea of a perfect bag won't necessarily be others', and vice versa. Sounds like you're most concerned with price, so you might check out bag websites that let you set a price range and see bags only in that range. eBags.com does that, from what I remember. There must be others. Zappos might, too. Or maybe you could buy a used bag that you like. You can search by brand names on eBay, for instance, if you like expensive bags but don't want to pay retail.

I think I've listed some of the items I am likely to carry in this bag; anf you're correct, what someone else deems perfect may fall short of my perception of perfect.
SFbags has some nice bags, but either the length or depth are way off (imo). Territory Ahead has a great bag, reviews aren't great!
Dollars do not make the bag, performance, quality and versatlity do. So again, someone in mac/pc world has found the perfect bag, they're just keeping it a secret
I use the STM scout XS bag and I love it very nice bag and very good protection.
Attach is pictures from the first day I got it. I was planning on doing a post but I never got to it.
