Answering my own question. I bought one and it does work with at least one app I tried so far, PSK31, am amateur radio app.

Answering my own question. I bought one and it works with at least one app so far, PSK31, an amateur radio app. And I am running the latest version of iOS on my non - jailbroken iPad.
