ipad4 keyboard typing issue

I just got new ipad4 yesterday. I was writing email on safari and all of a sudden, it stopped typing. I punched in every alphabet but it didn't type at all. Then a few minutes later, it started typing again. What's going on? Is my device defective or is it IOS problem?

I'm not sure, but it could be that the main servers were running slowly thanks to heavy online traffic.
