Strange iPad problem

Hi all, I have a strange problem. I have an iPhone 4S and an iPad 4th gen. When I text a friend through my iPhone he doesn't get the message. When I text him through the iPad he gets the message straight away. He responds and it only goes to my iPad...and not my phone. I can only txt him via the iPad. This has happened to a few fiends who have iPhones. Any fix available

Why is this an iPad problem?

Cause it's going to the iPad instead of the iPhone. I dunno if I've set one thing up for it to appear there. I'd like it removed "from" the ipad

Settings>messages>send and receive. This should show you the addresses you have linked to your iMessage. Look in this area on the phone and iPad both to see what addresses you have assigned to which device. Also make sure iMessage is enabled on your phone. If the phone has it turned off, and the iPad does not, and has the number as one of its addresses, it would explain your situation perfectly. Let me know how it goes.
