Deleting imessages on ipad

Hello, I can delete individual messages on my iPhone very easily by using the edit button then highlighting the individual message I want to delete.
But with my iPad I don't seem to have this facility!
Or does someone know a way to do it?

I just looked, and there's no problem on my iPad.

This is what I see after tapping the edit button.

But does that not delete all the messages? I want to be able to select some but not all as I can on my iPhone

No, if you have more than one message you just tap the minus sign of the ones you want to delete, then tap the delete button that appears in the message. Do this for each message you want to delete. When you're finished, tap the done button at the top.

If you mean to delete an individual entry in the conversation (instead of the entire conversation), tap the arrow/box icon at the top right. A small circle will appear next to each conversation entry. Select/check them, then tap the Delete button at the bottom.

If I understand you correctly you want to delete individual parts of a conversation and not the entire message. If so see pictures
