From the reports I read, I decided not to upgrade my iPad 3 to iOS 6.0. I'm wondering if it will be safe to upgrade to 6.01.
Will I lose the ability to view videos from YouTube and others?
Any other problems I should know about before deciding?

You will lose the native YouTube app but can download the YouTube player app from the App Store to continue enjoying YouTube.

Thanks, AA! I went ahead with the update, and all seems well so far.

I haven't upgraded to iOs 6.x yet either because I don't want to lose Google Maps and Youtube.
Watching youtube in Safari takes up 1 tab.
I am always short of tabs there are only 9! If I open a link to a youtube vid, I will lose an open tab.
What is that app called?
I cannot find any titled "youtube player" or any official player app from Google.
Need to sync with my favorites and subscriptions.
Also Google Maps is lost.
There isn't any replacement for it yet.

Go to the App Store and search for YouTube under iPhone apps. The iPad app hasn't been released yet but the iPhone app will work fine on an iPad. There are also apps like Jasmine and Youplayer that will play YouTube videos.Originally Posted by Nozomi

Google Maps is over as a native app. The thing to do is access it via Safari or your mobile browser of choice. After loading the page, Google will ask you if you'd like to add an icon for it to your home screen. Not as convenient but it seems to be quickest way to use Google Maps on your iOS device now.

Thanks.
I saw Youplayer but see it has many low rated comments. Especially about the latest update!
One big reason I didn't commit to ios.6 upgrade is because I have multiple favorites in my Youtube app which are not sync'ed with my favorites in my Google Youtube (desktop version).
I did once see a pop-up informing me I "you have xxx favorites... Do you want to sync them...?"
I didn't commit to this and researched about this feature and saw many people were losing favorites after incomplete sync operations.
- is this still a true problem?
Now when I login to the Youtube app, I cannot get that same pop-up question to occur again!
EDIT:
Also the ios.5 Youtube app under subscriptions, shows only a summary of new videos. I cannot see a way to get to the uploaders I subscribed to in Youtube (desktop ver.)!
AdmiralAdama - does Youplayer address favorites and subscription sync properly?
Don't know if I should submit the above issue to a new thread or...?

Thanks for pointing that out scifan.Originally Posted by scifan57

Glad I didn't link it to appear even more moronic.

Jasmine got a good review from a website, and I have installed but not used it.
