    Weird home button

For the past week my home button hasn't been responding as well as it used to. It's either been slow or non-responsive. I don't think I've damaged it, I'm super careful with my iPad. Just now, it was sleeping and I had to press it 3 times to wake it up. Anybody know how to fix this? Could it be a software problem? If it is hardware what can I do to fix it?

Thanks so much, I did the suggested steps. I'll see if it helps. What does it mean to calibrate / recalibrate your home button though? Is it a regular part of maintenance that needs to be done to iDevices?

That I am not sure as it being a maintenance type activity. We had several members speak about the home button not responding and this was one of the options. You can also turn on the virtual home button as well. The instructions are in the 2nd link I gave you.

Good luck and let us know how it comes about.

Home button still acting up, actually has gotten worse. I'm so careful with my iPad there is no reason for this.

Should I take it into Apple? I don't know, first Apple device since 1st gen iPod nano. I have no idea now to fix this.

Try a reset of your iPad and see if this makes a difference.

Hold the power off button and the home button simultaneously, keep holding them in and you will see the power off slide appear and disappear, wait until you see the Apple logo appear before releasing the buttons. It will take a little longer for your iPad to start. Let us know how you go.

OK, it seems to be more responsive after the restart, but I'll keep you all posted. If the problem persists should I send it in for service or take it to an Apple store or what? Honestly I'm confused as to why this even happens, it's so random.
