    Hi vish26,
Perhaps you should read the rules of this Forum, about discussing jail breaking your iPad or Apple devices.

There are threads about that already on here, and although your question may seem innocent enough, it could also get yourself booted off the Forum.
Just a friendly reminder to step very lightly on this subject.

Perhaps also, you might want to search for those answers elsewhere.

    Ah, with all due respect...

Have a look at our "Hacking" section - it may answer your question.

Oh and by the way - I think the previous response from Redhotpoker is rather harsh considering that this forum has a section totally given over to Hacking and Jailbreaking and IMO only makes one valid point and that is that perhaps a search before starting a new thread would be a good idea in the future.

Jailbreak for The New iPad ?

There is no reason not to discuss jail breaking an iPad at this forum. Jail breaking is a legal process that many people do quickly and easily with the newest jail break tool, Absinthe 2.0. Heck, we have an entire sub-forum dedicated to jailbreaking and it contains many tips, tutorials, reviews, etc. on jail breaking.

To answer the original question, yes, there is a jail break available for the the new[est] iPad. See this thread here for instructions on how to jailbreak the iPad3: TUTORIAL - Jailbreak the iPad2 and iPad3 on 5.1.1 With Absinthe 2.0. Do note that the Absinthe tool can be used to jail break any iPad running iOS 5.1.1.

Oh, and one last thing about jail breaking and this forum. While we support, aid and assist those who jailbreak, what we DON'T do is support those who use the jail break in ways that help them steal apps and tweaks. That's called piracy and that is what is not tolerated here.

    Hope this clarifies.

    Thanks Marilyn.

One more question. Once I have Jailbroken it, can I undo it and come back to a Not Jailbroken state as my iPad was before the Jailbreak ?

Jailbreak for The New iPad ?

Oh, absolutely! Just (1) hook the iPad up to your iTunes, (2) make a backup, (3) hit the restore button on the main Summary page and, when iTunes has done it's magic, (4) choose to restore from backup. Your iPad will be back to stock, running the latest iOS.

I apologize for my seemingly harsh response. It certainly wasn't meant, how it may appear to you. I guess if you read it that way, you get that assumption though.
I've read several others threads or replies, concerning jail breaking these devices, which seemed quite innocent to me, and yet some were banned from this fine Forum.

So please jail break away, if that's what your motivation is in regard to your iPhones and iPads.
Not my call to tell others what to do, plus I haven't delved into this subject much here myself.

I must admit that I really don't see much point in having Cydia on my new iPad 3.
Although her icon does look cool on my sweet home screen. Wide toothy grin...

    Go for it...

First of all, I don't get the need to Jailbreak something that you haven't used. What do you absolutely need to jailbreak to do? I understand it is personal preference, but I have yet found myself unable to do something that would require me to jailbreak my iPad, especially a brand new one. Use the device first, see if you have to jailbreak it.

The OP question was "Is Jailbreak available for the New iPad?" - answer Yes
