    Yeah you better go with a real camera for HD picture. It would fill your demand than an iPad can.

    The resolution of a picture makes it HD, not the aspect ratio.

    4:3 is typical analog TV

    16:9 is digital TV, which can be either standard definition (SD) or high definition (HD). These are mainly for broadcast purposes only.

    Still photos are another kettle of fish.

    So if you mean does it do 16:9 photos and / or video then I' ll open the door for the more enlightened. But from what I can see, video is in 16:9, but photos are closer to the dimension of the iPad screen. Photos are not generally 16:9 aspect on digital cameras anyway.

    Just take the photo, then crop it to the shape you need.
