Hi there-to restart your iPad...you press the power button to power off.
To reset you iPad...you have to press the home button and power button at the same time. Does thar help?

There is a reset option in the settings that you can erase all content and return to factory settings.

I know if I double tap home button I can close each app one by one but was just wondering if I could reset
Restarting normally closes the apps for me. I think its a 5.1.1 feature.
