That depends on the file size of the photos/videos?

Ah ok, that's the same thing the guy at Apple said. Not sure how to determine how big a regular everyday photo/video would be esp. since Im not doing anything out of the ordinary...just videos and pics of my kid participating in various activities and at end of vacation time, going through it all and deciding what to keep/trash and then move that over to the laptop.

Better to have too much space than too little. Having to constantly shuffle stuff around to use the iPad will be no fun. Even if you never used all your space, it will be there when you need it. You can decide to save several movies on there when you get ready to travel. My 64 GB LTE iPad is telling me I have 1110 photos on there (geez whiz!) and 15.6 GB free.

A high res screen shot on my iPad takes 4MB. That is probably on the large side. The size of jpg really does depend on what is in the image. I just took a camera shot and the 3.2MP image takes 549.5KB. But a 3.1MP image of a screen shot I took from the Guardian takes 1.6MB. So, no one can really tell you how much space you will use for images.

Why not wait an additional month and get the big one or just get the 32 GB model. And remember, if you get teh LTE version you can suspend your cellular service until you get ready to take a vacation or something and the un-suspend it so you can use the cellular. That way, you don't have to have a monthly bill for your iPad if you don't need it. But when you do need it you will have it, and if you are in a LTE service area, it will be nice. But even 3G is nice next to nothing.

64 gb because videos and movies tend to take up a lot of space..and just in case you download apps seeing that there are apps for kids

I agree with getting the 64GB as well and here is why. The 16GB is just too small for people who are going to store photos and videos. So why pay $100 for an extra 16GB when you can pay $200 for an extra 48GB?

Now to help you with your other question, if you currently have a group of photos on your computur you can get an idea of their file size by right clicking on the folder they are located in within My Computer and choosing properties. So if you have a folder of 25 pictures and you right click and find out that it is 100 MEGS then you have a rough estimate that pictures taken like those will give you around 250 to 1 GB.

If you have a Windows PC I suggest DVD Catakyst for $9.99 to rip your DVDs into a playable format for the iPad and a good setting will give you a 2 hour movie at about 1.25 GB and a lot of movies are only 90 minutes so they come in at a little under 1 GB. I use the Apple TV setting so that if I decide to play the movie on my iPad while hooked up to a TV somewhere, it will still look good.

Wow, thank you SO much everyone. Much more simplified information for a non-tech person like myself, than what Apple was giving me. Definitely going to go with the 64 gb now, but that means I'll have to wait another month or two unless Apple decides to bless me with a Memorial Day sale -- which is doubtful because of its popularity, but I'm hopeful...lol.

Many thanks again to you all. =)

I don't think Apple ever has sales...well, maybe ever blue moon, but they are not for much...I don't think they are worth waiting for.

I hear Best Buy is putting all of their MacBooks on sale....which means there are new models about the hit the streets.

Sorry for this potentially stupid question - but is an Ipad considered a Macbook. Or is it just that if Apple is coming out with a new Macbook that means another Ipad is imminent as well?

I just checked Best Buy, they don't offer the 4G LTE Version. Is that a buy direct from Apple exclusive only? And what is the drop-off from the version without the 4G LTE to one with it? Frankly I don't really understand the whole 4G LTE thing to begin with. Can anyone help with that?
