Can someone recommend a Longer USB power cable for IPad 3 that works

You can plug an old laptop power cord (one with rounded connectors) into the 10W power adapter after you remove the plug prongs. This results in a 10 ft charger. Luckily I had a couple of power cords hanging around. If you don't you can always buy a power cord for under $5. Just check on line or go to your equivalent to Walmart, Radio Shack etc.

That is a good idea. I have a ton of these lying around and they are inexpensive.

I used the extension USB cable that came with my old MacBook USB external keyboard... But last night I bought a new one off Amazon.. I'll let you know if it works...

I just recieved, unwrapped and tested a 3 meter Griffin cable.

Quick review.

Sync seems to work fine when I plug into the iMac.

Says "Charging" when I plug into the Apple iPad charger that came with the iPad.

Box instructions specify 10W charger...

I haven't tried much of a recharge yet because it hasn't run down very far.

The dock plug doesn't seem to noticably click into the dock jack, but the plug doesn't seem ready to leap out of the jack or anything, either.

Zaggfolio doesn't interfere with the connection in any way.

All & all, seems like a nice cable. Length matters...

I have used the Griffin and the NewerTech from OWC(macsales.com) with good success. On the other hand, none of the cheap eBay cables charge properly.

NewFrog.com was where I bought 3 long charging cords for about $12 for three and they have worked great for 3 years now every day.

I am Radio Television Engineer and Media technician. As we have these problems on stage quite often I developed and manufacture a charging cable. I got 5 meters and 10 meters. The cable is a heavy duty one for professional use and is only for charging. It does not provide any data functionality, but charging over 10m while the ipad is running works like a charme. Also instead of the original charger you can use any other stabilized charging device with 5V and at least 2A. Photo shows the 10m one, from the 5m the cable is a bit thinner. The cable contains an electronic circiut so its for ipad only. Feel free to PM me for details.
