[*]We will be in low internet access areas for 3 weeks. This rules out iCloud.[*]My DSLR camera takes 1080P AVC video & RAW/JPEG photos up to 25Mb each.[*]I'm estimating 125-150Gb of additional external storage. My iPad is 64Gb & I don't want to use it as storage.[*]Hyperdrives (HyperDrive iPad Hard Drive) are expensive but seems to be the best option. Hyperdrive must have its own app to avoid using iTunes.[*]I've read about satellite hard drives (GoFlex Satellite Wireless | Seagate) but I believe I cannot transfer directly from the SDHC card to the WiFi hard drive. I believe the data must 1st be loaded to my iPad, then WiFi-ed to the satellite hard drive. Am I wrong? (I'm going on vacation to relax, not do the same step twice.)[*]Some SDXC cards are big enough but are expensive too. Several smaller 32Gb cards would work & that might be the best option.

Anyway, I need to buy something & need advice which way to go. I do have other external drives at home but it's my understanding these wont work without hacking my iPad. Don't want to void my warranty!
Go Flex is $199 for 500 wifi - Hyperdrive is $399 for 250gb and it's usb? Go to Best Buy and talk to one of the smart kids... He told me don't get a bigger iPad get a WiFi drive! I said what? The app is free and it works... Plus you know they will keep Improving the app.. And the drive is pretty easy to update firmware... Go GoFlex for $199

AFter looking at the Hyperdrives and given that they have slots for cards, that seems to be the best way to go. I've never used one, but it must have app support else it would be totally non-functional. You can get just the shell for $99 and add your own 2.5-inch sata drive, so if you have an old laptop drive someplace you can lower the cost. I have several I could use. This might be a good option for me, in fact, to get some low cost iPad storage for movies and photos.

I picked up one of these. Haven't had the need for it yet but read great reviews! Good luck and hope you find what you need!

With my project External USB storage Support on JB iPad 2 4.3.3 I was able to mount a very good price. 2TB hard drive for cost of only 100$ discounted from best buys once in a million year good deal. It was on clearance though, great grab. Plus camera connection Kim only 30$

Airstash is ideal for you, AirStash®: wireless flash drive + pocket media server + SD adapter for iPad, iPhone, Kindle Fire, and more

By the sounds of it this is exactly what you need with a collection of 8/16/32MB cards!

I have one and they are great.

AirStash, I think, maxs out at 32Gb & files would need to be loaded to my iPad, then transferred to it. I'd like to avoid that if I could. This is the same issue I have with WiFi type hard drives like the Seagate Satellite.

Several 32Gb class 10 SDHC cards would work & 1/2 the price of a HyperDrive. The HyperDrives LCD is about the size of my Canon 60Ds LCD. I'm not interested in hacking my iPad 3 so those are probably the best options.

You can get the non LCD version for $99. Then add a laptop drive and be good to go. I think you need the version that reads cards, though. I'm going to get the non LCD version rather than spend $200 on the seagate.

You're right. In my case, not everyone's, I don't want to spend extra time while on vacation downloading the SDHC card to the iPad, then uploading to another drive.

Also, as you mentioned, with the $99 model you'll need a 2.5" HDD so the overall cost would be closer to $200 depending on which HDD you get. The Colorspace model starts at $250 + HDD so more like $350. But, after looking a prices of similar "photo storage" HDDs @ B&H, $350 isn't bad.
