For any time you need to explain which iPad, you just have to do like with the iPods and tell them which generation. For example I have the 2nd and 6th generation iPod Nano.

I think Cnet thought the official name is "iPod 2012". Lets be honest, I think every one is really gonna call it the "iPod 3".
It is different considering the last version was ipad 2 however as Seadog said iPod is a iPod regardless of what version you have I guess we keep the name on the forum iPad 3 but that in it self may be confusing lol.

Not giving it a version number is incredibly stupid in my opinion.
New customers will also think the iPad 2 is newer. Not that I plan on getting a newer iPad, but every year that goes by will cause mass confusion as to what version someone is talking about.
From my understanding the only apple products that are numbered are the iPhone and iPad am I right?
So apple may seem like they are moving in a different direction, maybe Tim Cook wants to show he is no Steve Jobs.
Can be good but confusing
Wth am I supposed to do years later when I'm selling this back? "Selling the new iPad"? Or "Selling the old the new iPad"?
Selling the 3rd Generation iPad (hope this helps)Originally Posted by xGary
