And apart from their value in reducing glare, I'm another person who thinks screen protectors on the iPad are a waste of money.
Actually that's a little confusing. Apple doesn't manufacture components, they design them. It's common knowledge that their products and the components making up those products are manufactured by third parties.
If they use Corning Gorilla Glass for example, it's designed and manufactured to Apple's specifications.
The key is that the components they use are generally exclusive to Apple and often the manufacturing processes are kept secret to afford Apple a competitive advantage.
Just a little clarification. :)
All of this talk reminded me of a great little commercial (that Apple eventually asked the sponsor to pull...which they did). It lives on here...

I have seen that! Scott, an old Mod here posted that last year! I wonder if that would really happen...
I don't think so...you can whack an iPad pretty darned hard without doing serious damage. I think Apple had them pull the ad for that reason...even when the screen shatters the glass doesn't go everywhere like that.

Hold on there cowboy, I use a screen protector on mines because I hate finger print smudges. However that's just me, I am a neat freak.
My experience is my screen protector keeps the smudges away and easier to manage. I used to like clean the screen every hour before I put on the protector.Quote:
