Settings➡General➡Keyboard➡Keyboards➡Emoji.
The Emoji key will appear on the bottom left side of your keyboard.

In case you didn't know - Emoji Keyboard
As a caution - remember that most non-Apple devices cannot see these emoticons. So, use care when using them as most others will see weird squares and boxes, not the neat emoticons you intended.
But yeah, for those that can see them, having them readily available is way cool...
