While there will be WiFi on your cruise ship,it comes at a price. Expect to pay more than you would for an equivalent service ashore. They have a captive market. After all,where else are you going to go for your internet connection while at sea.

If you want to go online with the iPad - well that depends on the cruise vessel. You might want to check with them if they have WiFi available.
But... there are so many uses for the iPad even without internet access - I would definitely take mine with me!!

Thanks for responses. The cruise ship is German and I know the ship has wi-fi and will charge for it but I just wondered whether anyone knew if reception is poor on a ship on one's own computer? I went on the same ship 9 years ago and one had to go to a room reserved specially to use the computers which were supplied for passenger use. Things have changed since then. All I want to do is read worldwide daily papers, play a bit of bridge online which is not possible if the wi-fi connection is poor Hi! scifan - I too am Canadian.
